It's so hot...
My ears are sweating.
No. Seriously. There's sweat on my ears.
Not behind them. It's not water from my hair. It's actual sweat on the cartilaginous part of my ear. The part that sticks out.
Yes, that part.
It's so hot, I'm now exhausted because I used the word "cartilaginous." That's how hot it is.
"But, Drew," you may say, "I don't know if your ears can sweat. I don't know if there's sweat glands there."
I don't know. You might be right. But
**thwap**
That's the sound of the sweat I've wiped from my ear and then flung from my fingers to the floor.
I'd show you pictures, but I haven't gotten my new camera yet, and besides, the sweat has now evaporated. As I said, it's pretty hot.
And now I get to go sing "Happy Buffday, deow Jawed" to my nephew with a speech impediment.
Outside.
Where it's hot.

A month on the nose!
4th of July
What is it about the beach that drives me to dig holes for no reason? Is it the lack of other entertainment options? The fact that it’s so easy? Curiosity? Maybe it’s ‘cause I had a trowel….
1 Jillion Degrees and Hockey
I started wearing shorts to work last week ‘cause:
A) it’s frikin’ hot,
B) the humidity doesn’t really help much and
C) because I can.
C just might be the best part of my job. I need another job.
But I wore those very shorts to a Kings game last Thursday night. The best part, besides seeing hockey friends and, of course, the actual hockey? There was no way the Kings could lose!
The Kings Prospect development camp was held last week and Thursday was the Prospect Scrimmage game. Black beat White 2-0, and for those of you jumping to conclusions - no, it wasn’t a segregated game, though the outcome may indicate otherwise.
Rather, the difference was one Patrick O’Sullivan, a talented young prospect who came to the Kings with the pick that became Trevor Lewis as part of the Demitra deal. “Sully” scored both goals for the Black sqaud, one of which was a particularly nice backhander off the goalie whilst he straddled the goalline. The kid was the MVP of the AHL last season, scoring 47 goals and has a shot this coming season to make the Kings roster.
The day before the game, I took the day off to head down to see a practice. Drills were fun to watch and some of the kids were impressive. And it was good to put faces and personal impressions to names that to this point were only names on a screen over on LGK. It was also an effort to determine my season ticket holder status for next season, seeing as how watching a few of these kids develop might be the only reason to see Kings come October.
Now with all this close up hockey activity, one might wonder why it is I didn’t take a few pictures. Well, it’s ‘cause I really don’t have a camera. I’ve got an old 35mm, but c’mon - In this day and age, digital is really the way to go for ease and simplicity.
So, I find myself in the market for a compact digital camera that will allow me to travel light but effectively. Chang’s already recommended the Canon Elph series, and my cousin has a nice compact Sony Cybershot that I occasionally borrow, so I’m gonna start with those. Hopefully I’ll have one in a coupla weeks.
That and a utility belt.
With my camera, iPod, phone, wallet, and keys, I’m gonna either run outta pockets or my pants’re gonna drop from the excessive weight.
